It's compweted! :3 Three months or so of hard work, and less than a year after completing Odile, I now have Aurora done! Obviously, there were a few differences done in how I constructed this tutu. It's still a classical, but it's not hooped and was tacked a bit more loosely so I could have a sloped tutu, which I think suits it more than a straight-up Russian style pancake would for this particular piece. This is Rue's Aurora Act III (wedding) tutu from Sleeping Beauty, which is only shown in the anime for all of maybe five seconds, in the ending sequence of the final episode. This is probably the most obscure costume I've made!
Here's a brief rundown on construction:
-tutu is 10 rows of double-hand pleated diamond net, alternating between ivory and lemon yellow. It is not hooped, lightly tacked through all the rows with individually sewn-in swing tacks, and the top three rows are scalloped along the edges. -bodice is a 12-panel bodice flat-lined in coutil and is boned, and attaches in back with hooks and eyes -tiara is made from wire, rhinestone strands, floral pices, and rhinestones -floral theme was used throughout the costume, as it suits Aurora (nicknamed Briar Rose) - the peplum is shaped to resemble petals, as are the decorations on it, and the lace is floral print. -much of the costume was hand-sewn, as there are many individually sewn-in sequins, lots of tackings with the tutu and peplum, handsewn trims, etc. There are also pearls everywhere, including places you might not look (like in the bodice trim) -necklace made of wire, pearls, and crimping beads for the 'floating' look
All that work definitely paid off! And I'm jealous that your shoes stayed that nice looking 'cause I think I need new ones But seriously, and gold and aaahh pretty!
Thanks! But the heel is really dirty, and they are fraying underneath a bit because of walking on cement is really bad for pointe shoes lol. At least these are cheap demi pointes though, I may eventually replace them.
Oh golly! It's so great to see this cosplayed! I was wondering if anyone would considering how briefly it's shown. Nice attention to detail here. I love the way you handled this. So beautiful. This is a fantastic cosplay. Well done<3
Thanks! I'm surprised anyone really recognizes or notices it. It was fun bringing the design to life and adding in some creative license of my own, especially with how I did the crown. I didn't like the generic gold crown they gave her and went with something you'd more likely see in the ballet world.
But seriously, and gold and aaahh pretty!
But s'all good if the front is still pretty. XD
